American Airlines President Robert Isom announced that the airline operated 150 international flights on Monday, a welcome change as the United States has decided to permit entry to non-citizens who are vaccinated against COVID-19. “We’re seeing fantastic demand, 40,000 customers are coming inbound to the U.S. today,” Isom revealed in an interview.
In order to board a flight to the United States, non-citizens must present proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 in addition to a negative COVID-19 test result from the last 72 hours.
Isom predicts that the latest international travel surge will continue into 2022, with travelers desperately seeking to visit family members who they haven’t seen for a prolonged period due to the travel restrictions that were enforced during the height of the pandemic.
In an effort to ensure that travelers comply with all COVID-19 health requirements when they travel, American Airlines offers a range of tools on their website to help keep customers informed on all applicable guidelines.
Among those regions with a significantly increased number of travelers to the U.S. is the United Kingdom, with a 60% increase in bookings overnight, as well as South America, where demand has surged by 70%.
