After being faced with union drives and criticism due to its rolling back pandemic hazard pay, retail giant Amazon has decided that it will pay employees involved in the packaging and delivery of goods a one-time holiday bonus of up to $300.

In addition to paying a $300 bonus to full-time employees, the eCommerce corporation will also reward part-time workers with a bonus of $150 each, so long as they are employed by Amazon for the whole month of December.

In a corporate blog post, logistics chief Dave Clark reported that Amazon is expected to spend approximately $500 million on its holiday bonuses. This comes after the company engaged in a series of incentives for warehouse employees in order to galvanize workers and keep them coming to the distribution warehouses during the height of the coronavirus pandemic lockdowns.

One of these schemes included a raise of $2 per hour for warehouse workers, which ended in May. This was followed by a series of one-time bonuses of up to $500 in June. Most recently, the organization engaged in a campaign to draw in new hires in order to have sufficient staff prior to the Thanksgiving rush. This included the offer of a $3,000 signing bonus.
