Air Seychelles has entered into a lease agreement for two Airbus A321XLRs with SMBC Aviation Capital, adding a longer-range type to support fleet and network expansion. The lessor said the aircraft are part of its existing orderbook.
The first of the two narrowbodies is scheduled for delivery in 2028. According to the airline, the aircraft should help reinforce Seychelles’ role as an internationally connected island destination by improving access to overseas markets and supporting the country’s tourism-focused economy.
Fleet and network plans
Air Seychelles currently flies two Airbus A320neos and five De Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter-400s. Chief executive Sandy Benoiton said the A321XLRs will give the airline the range and flexibility needed to expand beyond its usual regional network and link Seychelles more directly with important international source markets.
