Momentum, the urban cycling brand supported by Giant Group, has introduced the Vida E+ EX, a new commuter e-bike that builds on the original Vida E+ launched last year. The updated model adds a mix of comfort, utility, and technology features aimed at riders who want an easier daily trip through city streets and bike paths.
At the center of the bike is Momentum’s SyncDrive Move S rear hub motor, rated at 500W and 60 Nm of torque. It is set up as a Class 3 e-bike with pedal assistance up to 28 mph, and it uses torque, cadence, and speed sensing to tailor motor output as conditions change. Momentum says the bike is sold without a throttle in its standard form, though an optional throttle accessory can be added. Another notable feature is Cruise Mode, which holds a chosen speed over longer stretches of riding. The company also offers a “0-Start” throttle option that allows riders to move off from a standstill without pedaling.
Power comes from a removable 700 Wh battery, which is estimated to deliver about 40 to 55 miles of pedal-assist range or 31 to 43 miles when using throttle more heavily. With the included 3A charger, the battery can reach 80% in 4 hours and 40 minutes and fully charge in a little over 6 hours. The bike is built around a low-step aluminum frame and includes an 80 mm suspension fork, wide 26 x 2.4-inch tires, and a travel-adjustable dropper seatpost. For commuting use, it also comes with integrated fenders, lights, a MIK-compatible rear rack, integrated brake lights, hydraulic disc brakes with four-piston front calipers, Bluetooth connectivity through the RideControl Dash Core display, and the RideControl app with a digital E-Lock function. The frame is rated for a total rider and cargo load of up to 300 lbs, with optional front and rear racks supporting 33 lbs and 55 lbs respectively.
The Vida E+ EX will be sold in Caramel Cinnamon, Abyss Black, Mountain Air, and Pale Olive. Pricing starts at $1,985, with the throttle add-on priced separately at $65.
