Auto Tech Firm Veoneer Pens Collaboration Deal With Chip Giant Qualcomm

Automotive technology firm Veoneer confirmed in a statement on Thursday that it had reached a collaboration deal with wireless technology giant Qualcomm. This agreement has been in the works since the companies entered into discussions in August of 2020.

Veoneer CEO Jan Carlson expressed his satisfaction over the new deal, announcing, “Today’s agreement with Qualcomm Technologies and the creation of Arriver are key milestones in Veoneer’s development.”

In addition to the announcement of the Qualcomm collaboration, Veoneer revealed that it had developed a new software unit known as Arriver. This package is intended to serve as a dedicated tool in the development of the complete perception and drive policy software stack.

According to Carlson, the recently-developed Arriver software is already functional on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Ride Platform and is scheduled to be released for use by automotive customers within the next few months.

Prior to the inking of the collaboration deal, the Swedish-based Veoneer revealed that it had prospected the potential collaboration with Qualcomm to numerous carmakers and Tier-1 automotive suppliers, for which it received a wave of positive feedback. There was a particularly warm reception to the intended specifications and capabilities that the partnership would enable.
