iRobot has expanded beyond autonomous cleaning with its first non-robot floor device, the Roomba Electro Plus. Priced at $399, the cordless hard-floor cleaner is designed for vacuuming, mopping and disinfecting, but it must be pushed manually. The company says it is aimed at hard floors only and is meant to fill a gap for quick cleanups in parts of the home where a full robot vacuum may not be the best fit.
The Electro Plus combines several functions in one machine, including a self-cleaning roller mop and a motor that helps move it forward. Its dock washes and dries the mop with hot water and hot air after use. Users still need to empty, clean and refill the water tank themselves. iRobot says one of the product’s main distinctions is that it does not require a separate cleaning solution. Instead, it uses electrolyzing technology developed by its parent company, Picea, to convert tap water into a sanitizing liquid that the company says can kill 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, fungi and other germs.
New Roombas arrive with lower prices
Along with the manual cleaner, iRobot introduced five new Roomba robot vacuums for the U.S. market. The company says the models have higher suction, smaller footprints and lower prices than the previous lineup that launched in 2025. The new robots were first shown in Europe in May, and iRobot says they largely replace the earlier range. The top model in the new group is the Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + Auto Wash Dock, priced at $999.99.
According to the report, the new products come after iRobot’s acquisition by Picea earlier this year following bankruptcy. The two companies had already been working together before the deal, including on the lidar-based Roomba line introduced in 2025.
