During New York City’s recent heat wave, a new frozen-drink machine from Ninja was put through a real-world test at home. The Slushi Twist is an expanded version of the company’s original slushie maker, but its main upgrade is the addition of two separate 48-ounce containers instead of one.
That setup allows the machine to prepare two different drinks at the same time. According to the report, it can handle slushies, frappés, milkshakes, frozen coffee drinks and smoothies. The dual design also makes it possible to keep one side alcohol-free for mocktails while the other side is used for cocktails, which could be useful when serving groups with different preferences.
Built for larger batches and easier serving
Ninja says the machine can produce more than 10 drinks per batch, making it better suited to gatherings than to occasional single servings. The report says a feature called Dual SlushAssist automatically adjusts the freezing temperature for each chamber based on what is inside, so one side can make a creamier drink while the other freezes a fruit mixture to a more icy texture.
Another notable detail is the twist dispenser, which lets users pour each drink separately or blend the two flavors together in one glass. Cleaning appears straightforward as well, with a rinse function that runs until the water comes out clear. Still, the machine is larger than the original model and costs $399.99, so it may be more practical for bigger households or frequent hosts than for people who only make frozen drinks occasionally.
