Argenx said it will acquire Forte Biosciences in a $2.2 billion all-cash transaction, extending the wave of biotech dealmaking and adding another immunology-focused asset to its portfolio. The agreement values the Dallas-based company at $77 per share, which is 41% above Forte’s closing price on Friday.
The move reflects how even mid-sized drugmakers are continuing to search for acquisition targets as the sector remains active on the M&A front. For Argenx, the purchase is aimed at broadening its immunology pipeline and building on a business that has already become one of the standout performers in the field.
Argenx is best known for Vyvgart, its autoimmune drug approved for generalized myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy. According to the report, the medicine has continued to generate steady sales growth as its label has expanded to reach more patients.
A further step in immunology expansion
The acquisition comes as Argenx continues to strengthen its position in autoimmune and immunology therapies. The company’s main operations are in Belgium, while Forte is based in Dallas. The deal underscores how larger and midsize biotech players are using acquisitions to deepen their pipelines in areas with commercial momentum and clinical promise.
