Cloudflare has unveiled a new product called Cloudflare Wallets, a programmable wallet designed for artificial intelligence agents and built with stablecoin payments in mind. The cloud infrastructure company said the tool is intended to make it easier for AI agents to identify themselves and pay for services such as application programming interfaces and digital content through small stablecoin transactions, a model Cloudflare describes as “agentic commerce.”
According to the company, users can already claim a Cloudflare Wallet handle, but the payment functions will not be available until a future release. Cloudflare also said the wallets will be tied to its recently announced Monetization Gateway, which uses Coinbase’s x402 protocol to support stablecoin micropayments. In the company’s view, this setup should make it simpler for agents to test APIs without opening an account and to explore new services with less friction.
Software engineer Will Papper said in the blog post that stablecoin micropayments through x402 could make API trials easier for agents and other users. He also said the wallets will allow people to store stablecoins and receive payments across the web. Cloudflare did not provide a rollout timeline beyond saying the payment features are coming later, and it had not responded to a request for further comment at the time of publication.
